March Wedding

A March wedding can be a beautiful spring affair. The weather is still a bit chilly but your guests will know that spring is definitely in the air. March can be the perfect time to begin your lives together with a beautiful wedding. Take advantage of some pre-season discounts and avoid the rush of wedding season with a lovely March affair.

Invitations
Take advantage of the light pastel colors of the season and make a bright wedding invitation. Some patterns that look great for a March wedding invitation include cherry blossoms, pinstripe and polka dots. Think light and bright with yellow, baby blue, light pink, celadon green and lavender.

Also, if you're sending your spring-themed wedding invitations on time, they should reach your guests around January or February (depending on when in March your wedding date is set for) - just in time to relieve your guests of the winter doldrums.

Decorations
Seasonal flowers for March include Gerbera daisies, pastel dyed roses, Chrysanthemum, Snap Dragons and Sweet Peas. Take your cues from these light colors and accent with your flowers. Choosing flowers that are in season can save you some money and give your wedding bouquet a fresh look.

Reception and menu
March is not high-season for weddings, so don't be afraid to ask your reception venue, florist, caterer and other vendors for off-season discounts. Wedding season doesn't 'technically' start until June, so you might be able to save some money with your March nuptials.

While there is no rule about which foods to serve you might consider fresh foods and baby vegetables to pair with a light chicken or salmon dish. A crisp salad with candied nuts and fruits can add a fresh and unique touch to your menu.

For the bar, offer both red and white wines. Pick out a fruity spring-themed signature cocktail, like a lemon-drop martini or cherry limeade for our signature beverage. And if the weather is still chilly, you might want to add a fun warm beverage or coffee bar, too.

Weather
Don't let the chilly weather deter you. You might not be able to have an outdoor ceremony just yet, so make sure you have an indoor plan. If you do plan any outdoor activities, make sure you note on your invitation about your outdoor plans so your guests can dress for the weather.

Attire
Again, the weather may dictate some of your details for you. Most likely, the chilly temperatures will keep you and your guests inside. Any day in March could be warm and then turn chilly. You might be able to sneak in a ceremony and then move inside for your reception. Additionally, plan on dressing your bridesmaids appropriately for the weather; consider a sleeved dress or a wrap to go with their dress. This will keep them warm and prepared for just about any weather situation.

March can be a beautiful time to plan your wedding. Start with a bright pastel invitation and you'll have everyone excited for your beautiful spring affair. You might not be able to have an outdoor affair for ceremony and reception, but you will have a beautiful and unique wedding that will be long remembered.
